Involve all Stakeholders

In case of complex issues it is essential to convene all stakeholders.

When you want to achieve profound and sustainable change in a situation, it is not sufficient to merely change the circumstances or only an element. What needs to be changed is the system in which the situation is embedded.

This view involves two things:

  1. The people who are responsible for the situation and maintain it, must be prepared to change. This means that they need to look at their perceptions, prejudices, way of thinking and their habits and be able to decide what is no longer tenable. By changing assumptions, behaviour will also change.
  2. By looking at the problem together and finding out what is maintaining it, it is also possible to look at a problem from a 'higher level' and come up with another solution. Einstein once said that we can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

By doing this you can learn together to understand all forces playing at all levels in the present situation. There will also be more understanding of each others points of view, which will cause people to be more prepared to change. Only then will something in the system be able to change, this can now happen with everyone on board.
